Ashkenaz Ambassadors
Ashkenaz is currently hiring ambassadors for summer 2012. These positions will be particularly exciting in the lead-up to and during our 2012 festival! (Aug 28-Sept 3)
The aim of the ambassadorship is to create and promote an awareness of Yiddish and Jewish artistic cultures amongst Toronto youth, fostering the potential for a vibrant Jewish community within a wider artistic setting. Ashkenaz wants to give people between the ages of 18-25 greater ownership of the Jewish arts and culture scene in Toronto, harnessing their talents of outreach and peer-to-peer marketing to build a relationship between the youth demographic and the Ashkenaz Foundation.
Ambassadors will receive unique incentives throughout the summer, complementary entry to Ashkenaz events as well as the opportunity to gain an exciting and unmatched experience during our 2012 festival year.
The positions are open to undergraduate and graduate candidates of all cultural backgrounds, as well as young adults who are not engaged in post-secondary study.
Opportunities for ambassadors:
- The ability to create and promote youth-specific events (eg. open mic nights, film nights, workshops, events with other groups)
- The chance to help with the promotion of general Ashkenaz events
Through both of these activities, ambassadors will gain experience in:
- Grassroots marketing (appealing to youth groups, appealing to peers and friends, organising street team promotion) and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, blogs)
- Maintaining regular communication with Ashkenaz and with other peer volunteers
- Reaching out to other Jewish and non-Jewish organisations in order to increase the visibility of Ashkenaz
To apply:
The ideal ambassadors will be motivated, outgoing, creative and organised. Ambassadors will be self-starters who can cultivate an Ashkenaz presence across their networks in Toronto and within the wider community. We are looking for people with great organisational, communication and leadership skills. A background/interest in arts and culture or event planning and marketing is also an asset.
We want to hear from you! To apply, please email your cover letter and resume to Janis Seftel (Outreach and Audience Development Coordinator): janis@ashkenazfestival.com.
Thank you! Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview.
