Work on the project has been going on for 21 years.

Billboard and Variety write about the deal. According to the second edition, the announced amount of $ 30 million is not entirely correct, but the sources of the publication did not specify exactly how much Netflix paid for the rights to show.

The as-yet-untitled series was acquired by the streaming service from TIME Studios and directors Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chick Oze (Coodie & Chike), who, among other things, shot a video for West’s track “Through The Wire.”

The series will cover 21 years in the artist’s life – from the life in Chicago and the death of his mother Donda West, to a career in fashion, music and an unsuccessful presidential run in the United States in 2020.

The series is expected to be released in 2021.
